Kids (6-12)
Children develop resilience whilst learning about respect, humility and self-discipline. Training improves general kinaesthetic intelligence, improving bodily awareness and coordination. Along with these important skills the core principles of self-defence are developed. We do not teach children how to fight, but how to respond to conflict, whereby they can hold their ground whilst maintaining dignity and compassion. Alongside core Aikido techniques kids also learn core techniques drawn from other martial arts.
Monday 4.25PM - 5.25PM
Wednesday 4.25PM - 5.25PM
Adults
Aikido practice for adults can be highly rewarding. Beyond learning martial techniques the combination of physical movement, stretching and the unified coordination of mind-body can act as a sort of somatic therapy. It can help to de-stress and become calmer, happier and more productive. Training can be vigorous and challenging at times, but we build up gradually working within the abilities of our students resulting in steady progression.
Monday and Wednesday 5.30 - 6.30 Beginners
Monday and Wednesday 6.00 - 7.00 Advanced
Note there is 30 minutes overlap - where we train as a mixed group. This structure gives a good balance for beginners and advanced students.
